With every wallet, a seed phrase is associated. Seed phrases consist of either 12, 18, or 24 words. These words are derived from the BIP 39 protocol, which randomly selects the specified number of words from a dictionary of 2048 words available at: https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt. Each word in the dictionary starts with a unique 4-letter prefix.
These words serve as keys to your funds, and losing them will lead to a loss of funds. It is crucial to securely store these words by writing them down and keeping them in a safe location. Storing them online through email, a photo, or the cloud is highly not recommended.
If your device storing these words is wiped, stolen, or malfunctions, you can retrieve the seed phrase that you have backed up and reimport it into an app such as Kaspium or a cold storage device like OneKey.
But even though you might assume that this enables you to recover your funds by importing the phrase into any Kaspa-compatible wallet, in reality, this is not quite the case.
Here is a chart that showcases each compatible Kaspa Wallet and whether its seed phrase can be restored elsewhere: Kaspa Seed Phrase Compatibility Chart
